The Smoothie Corner: It’s Smoothie Time, Delicious 4 New Smoothie Recipes For Kids

Once again we are back to My Smoothie Corner with some new ideas and some refreshing fruit smoothie recipes for kids.

But lets get straight to the Recipes and this time the ingredients are all full of fibers, proteins, irons, folic acid, vitamins and minerals, an excellent mix for kids and even grown-ups.

The Summer Rainbows

  • 1 Orange peeled and cut in pieces
  • 1 apple peeled and in small pieces
  • a handful of romaine lettuce leaves
  • 1 fresh or frozen mango
  • 1 banana
  • a cup full of ice cubes
  • a teaspoon of chia seeds (Optional)

Straight in the Vitamix, blend for 1 or 2 minutes till the ice and the fruits have turned into a lovely creamy texture and it’s ready to drink.

It is simply delicious.

The Hidden Spinach Smoothie

My kids don’ t really like greens too much, but this recipe is an excellent option since it manages to hide the green of the spinach among all the other beautiful colors of each fruit. And it works wonders; they won’t’ even know that the spinach are there

  • A handful of Spinach leaves
  • Half a cup of Blueberries
  • Half a cup of Raspberries
  • 1 Banana
  • 500 ml of Coconut Milk ( you can use Almond if you prefer)
  • 1 small cup of ice
  • 1 table spoon of oatmeal (Optional).

Mix all the ingredients in the blender till you get the desired consistency and enjoy your  cold nutritious energetic drink!

The Apple Smoothie

A refreshing drink, simple and easy to do and lets a face it everyone loves apples!Resultado de imagen de apple smoothie

Ingredients: (serving approx. 4 )

  • Two glasses of coconut milk
  • Two non-dairy yogurts
  • Two apples, peeled and chopped in pieces
  • a teaspoon of Cinnamon powder
  • Agave Syrup (optional)
  • a cup of Ice (Optional)

Depending on the type of apple you will choose the smoothie will have a sweeter or more “sourish” flavor. For a sweet taste pick apples such as the Fuji or the Pink Lady; if you prefer a not so sweet taste than the Granny Smith apple or the Golden apple are a better option

The type of apple chosen will also vary slightly the texture of the smoothie, since the same will change according to the pulp of each apple.

I like to prepare several smoothies with different varieties of apples, to see which one I like the most.

Take the apples peeled and cut in small pieces , put  the rest of the ingredients in the Vitamix and let your kids enjoy it

The Mango Smoothie

I lived in Asia for may years and mango is probably one of my favorite fruits ever. It is one of the best fruits you can use to make smoothies, rich in flavor and  full of nutrients.

  • A large ripe mango
  • Two glasses of almond milk
  • Two non-dairy yogurt
  • A teaspoon of Agave Syrup (optional since the mango can be sweet)
  • A cup of Ice (Optional)

The first thing to do is to wash and peel well the mango.

Then we will chop it and put it in the blender together with the rest of the ingredients and mix it up for approximately 2 minutes.

Remember, the colder the mango, the fresher the smoothie will remain, so we always get the ingredients right when we are ready to prepare it.

According to the size of the mango we will need more or less quantity of yogurt and milk, approximately for a mango of a medium size with a couple of glasses of milk and two yogurts a smoothie is quite creamy, but you can adjust these ingredients according to your tastes, and also according to the size of the mango or mangoes that you are going to use in the recipe.

If you decide to add the Agave Syrup, It is best to prepare the smoothie and then adjust the amount of syrup accordingly to your taste, avoiding as well to over sweeten the smoothie.

So here you have it, enjoy your weekend wherever you are and if you are somewhere really warm I hope you can sip one of these lovely Smoothies enjoying the sunshine maybe on a beautiful beach.

Good recipes you have here. The summer rainbow would surely my number one pick and I could try out this weekend. My taste buds are already delighted at the possibility of savouring this smoothie.

However, mango is a seasonal fruit in Africa and and it’s not present at the moment. Can I go ahead without the mango or could you recommend a substitute for my smoothie.

I am a big fan of the mango smoothy as it is really refreshing on a hot summers day. I line with the global drive to reduce our plastic usage, I use glass straws with my smoothies. Not only is this good for the environment but it also tastes better.

These smoothies are a great alternative for kids to the sugar laden softdrinks currently on offer but I must admit, as an adult, these are great too.
