About Me and My Vegan World
Hi everyone, my name is Barbara and I am the creator of My Vegan World.
Since I can remember I have always been interested in living a healthy lifestyle, trying to eat healthy, trying to exercise, setting a good example for my two great kids and really look after my body and my mind as well.
I am not perfect and it is an everyday journey, yet thru my constant research, reading of books, experimenting with food and learning, educating myself about the world around us, I have become truly passionate about Veganism.
There it so much we do not know, or we choose not to know, so many things that we can learn to improve our lives and the lives of our loved ones.
I know it isn’t easy to see or rather accept it, but if you are willing to learn and have an open mind you will come to realize how important some changes can be for our life and the world around us.
It is time for me to give back, it is time for me to share with others what I know and the little I have learned and I sincerely hope that you will see how important it is to be the change we need to be.
If I am completely honest I was not always Vegan; before I made the shift I was a vegetarian, and before that, I use to it lots of chicken, and turkeys, and steaks.
When I was young, nothing really affected me, I could eat what I wanted, sleep as little or as much as I wanted, I felt I could do anything, and nothing would ever stop me.
After having two kids, and of course getting older…(as we all do) I felt I was beginning to feel lethargic, with lack of energy, sometimes tired.
I looked into food and minerals, proteins, fats and decided that to put aside meat and having a vegetarian type of diet would have suited me better, making me feel healthier and also setting the right example for my kids to follow hopefully one day.
Vegan came later. I watched a documentary that would have changed my life for ever.
The title was H.O.P.E. What You Eat Matters.
Never in this world, I would have thought that watching a documentary could make me feel the way I did and could affect my vision of the world, the way we treat ourselves, the way we treat our animals, the way we are affecting our Planet by the choices of food we make.
It is not easy to see, it is even harder to accept, but what would the alternative be? Close your eyes and pretend everything is OK the way it is?
It might work for some, it definitely did not work for me. So here I am embracing a new lifestyle and loving it like I never thought I would.
Welcome then, to My vegan World!
WHY SHOULD YOU FOLLOW ME?
I am not here to teach anything to anyone, my purpose, as I learn along the way and educate myself every day a little more, is to share with others the truth about our society, our planet, our choices.
I want, in a sense, to give back a little of what I have learned and hopefully someone, even just one person, will feel inspired to be the change we all need to be.
I am here to share knowledge and welcome knowledge from other people too. Whether it is a little book about Vegan food or a full report about the effect of farms on our planet, I sincerely hope you too will find it interesting and you might want to open the eyes of the people that surround you.
