You are probably wondering: kale? Don’t I have something more appetizing? Truth is these Smoothie Recipes using kale are among the best and most nutritious drinks that you can give your body.

Kale is a power plant full of everything and more!!

Why Kale?

Kale has been known and used all over Europe for centuries and in the last few years, when everyone has become more aware of the environment and health and the need to feel better, the name kale and its use has spread throughout the world thanks to its nutritional and curative powers.

Kale gives us its extraordinary antioxidant power to help us combat the constant generation of cancer cells.

Some of the nutrients present in the plant are associated with beneficial anti-cancer effects because the body transforms them into ” isothiocyanates” elements that we know today are vital in the prevention and cure of cancer.

The plant is also full of fiber, fundamental in helping with constipation problems and also in weight loss diets. You have to know that with so much fiber and so many nutrients of very low caloric density kale are the ideal food to satisfy, nourish properly and lose weight.

Kale also helps in the release of toxins even at the genetic level. The isothiocyanates mentioned above collaborate in the cellular detoxification and on the other hand, it has been found that the unusual amount of sulfides present in the kale are of great importance in the cell purification work. In particular, its purifying benefits are enhanced when we drink it.

This miracle plant is also an exceptional source of vitamins. One cup of this food contains vitamin K (up to 1180% of the daily need), vitamin A (98%), vitamin C (71%) and many others.

Full of chlorophyll and with a unique mineral content it contains calcium, magnesium, and potassium in important quantities, in addition to many other minerals present in smaller quantities, so it is one of the foods with greater alkalizing capacity for the organism.

The presence of iron together with a high content of vitamin C makes it a really good aid for anemia problems while its contribution of highly bio-available calcium makes it an essential food to combat deficiencies and the various diseases that affect bones such as osteoporosis especially for Vegans that do not use dairy products in their diet.

Kale has as well a high level of potassium and sodium that help in the control of high blood pressure and in fluid retention due to its diuretic effect.

So there you have it, there are so many properties with this plant that the question should be why NOT Kale?

Have the following query in making the kale and apple smoothie.

Will it taste sour with the lemon added? As i dislike the sour taste.

What is the amount of wheatgrass added?

    • Barbara S. says:

The lemon will just give it a fresher taste and as far as the wheatgrass a handful of wheatgrass will do.

I hope you will enjoy it

Now that I see the other added benefits, I feel so good about my choice to plant some kale in my compound.

blending with other great tasting fruits is definitely the way to go.

This is brilliant. I’ve been looking for something solid like this to make the seemingly maybe not so tasty vegetables a part of tasty foods, meals or just ways to prepare food. Smoothie recipes are definitely among those.

That blueberry smoothie looks really incredible. I bet my daughter would also love that, I feel it might be the way how to get her to consume some kale. Otherwise, she just picks it out of her salad or does not touch it at all, which is sad considering all of the positive effects it can have on anyone’s health. She loves blueberries by the way.

Will try this today, no need to put it off.

    Have a Wonderful Day!

I was absolutely bewildered by some of the amazing facts about kale. I mean I knew it was a potent antioxidant full of phytonutrients and various vitamins. But the idea about releasing toxins even at the genetic level is WOW. Some of the other facts you mentioned I didn’t know. Thank you for those insights, I appreciate it. 🙂

As for the recipes, will make sure to make a paper copy of this. Me and my wife – we gotta try them all. I’m probably the most excited about that Almond Smoothie. Mmm… 🙂

    Carpe minutam, Barbara!

    Have an Amazing Day!

Wow, I knew kale was good for you, but I didn’t know it was that good! I stopped getting because I didn’t really like the taste. I was putting it my smoothies like you suggested. But then I got spinach and I liked the taste better, so I stopped the kale. But your smoothie ideas sound so good that I might just try kale again lol. I’m going to the store today, so I’ll put it on the list! Thank you for this wonderful post!

Yes, I was wondering, KALE? Not me! Not with all the other sweater things that can be found in foods. But I agree with you that kale has been in existence for centuries and it is one of the main foods our ancestors consumed. No wonder their health was always intact. Cancer was never heard of in those days.

One thing that I look forward to is to loose weight while still enjoying all the nutritional value of Kale. I think I have tried all the other smoothies other than the Almond one. Will sure give it a try.

Thanks for highlighting all this benefits.

  9. Kenneth says:

I didn’t know that Kale had so many different vitamins. We need more antioxidants to combat such a polluted world. With all the toxins we ingest every day we all need a good source of detox. I am happy to hear that by mixing Kale into a smoothie you are actually able to benefit by digesting more of the nutrients than by eating Kale in a salad.

The recipes that you have given look and sound very flavorful. If it tastes good people will consume more which will directly help their bodies avoid chronic diseases, such as Cancer. I am bookmarking your site for these recipes so my wife will have access to how to prepare these delicious smoothies.
